Orange World

Local Search and Share provides the Orange Local service to Orange UK which can be found:

  • on the Orange World portal home page
  • integrated with the Orange World search function
  • integrated with selected Orange World content services
  • by texting ‘Local’ to 247

Local Search and Discovery

Orange Local uses the underlying search and discovery features of Local Search and Share to deliver a compelling user experience to identify the nearest businesses and amenities that meet the needs of Orange World users.

Once a business, amenity or item of local information has been identified, the user can also obtain rich content about many locations by ‘deep linking’ to the appropriate page of existing Orange World ‘local’ content services.

Integration with Search

In addition to being accessible to users as a link from the portal home page, users entering search terms into the Orange World search box can also access Orange Local. If a term is entered that Local Search and Share determines has any ‘local’ matches, the user is offered a link to ‘local’ results provided by Orange Local.

Maps and Directions

Once a local business, amenity or address has been selected then Orange Local provides graphical maps and/or directions tailored specifically to match the user’s phone and the route they are following.

Increasing Revenues

The Orange Local service provides a free of charge service for Orange World users that allows them to find local businesses, amenities and information.

However, in addition to generating browsing revenues relating to the use of Orange Local itself, the service is unique in generating revenues from increased usage of existing on-portal services offering ‘local’ content such as Ents24, Kizoom railway timetable, Traffic Information and the Orange Cinema Listings service.

Creating Loyalty

Orange Local provides a single service through which users can quickly access the all of the rich ‘local’ content contained in existing Orange World content services that is most relevant given their location. This ‘made for mobile’ user experience ensures users return to the Orange World portal time after time as the first port of call for local queries.

The increase in traffic to existing on-portal content services also increases loyalty amongst Orange’s existing content providers.

Seat Pagine Gialle in Italy

Seat Pagine Gialle’s (Seat PG) mobile local search services in Italy are hosted and delivered by m-spatial based on Local Search and Share.

One of the largest directory provider groups in Europe and market leader in Italy, Seat PG is using Local Search and Share to enable Italian consumers to access information on their local merchant customers through their mobile phones. The services are to be offered via mobile operator portals, with the first services having recently gone live with WIND.

As a cornerstone of Seat PG’s strategic developments for mobile, m-spatial’s Local Search and Share is integrated with Seat PG’s business listings and search capabilities. The resulting service integrates and renews the existing Seat PG TuttoCitta Mobile service and Seat PG’s Pagine Bianche (White Pages) and Pagine Gialle (Yellow Pages) mobile services to provide a single seamless mobile user experience that will be fully integrated with Seat PG’s web services – a critical factor in maximising consumer usage via the mobile channel.
